"THE SAGINAW GEARS HAVE WON THE TURNER CUP!!"

This series of photos was taken as the horn went off and signaled the win for the Gears in the 1976-77 Turner Cup finals. The series starts at the horn and goes through to the point where the team carries the cup off the ice into the locker room. I was standing up where the east gate to the pressbox was located- the same position where, as an usher in 1975, I stood and watch Toledo win the cup from the Gears. I went there to erase the bitterness of that loss, but it turned out to be a great place to capture the moment.

The resolution is high enough on these photos that if you click on one, you may just recognize yourself in the crowd.
